File Information (Windows)

The File Information plugin is used to check one of three things: whether a file exists, how long a file has existed, and how long since a file was last modified. This is a pretty flexible tool and you can use it in a number of different ways. For example, if you have a file that is supposed to be updated periodically, this will check to make sure that this update is actually occurring.

Control Panel Configuration

To add a File Information agent resource to your server first see Add FortiMonitor Agent checks if you have not already.

First, scroll to File from the Windows metrics options.

Metric

Unit

Creation age

minutes

File exists

boolean

Modification Age

minutes

The modification age resource will return how long (in seconds) it has been since the specified file was modified. The file exists will return either true of false for whether the specified file exists (remember true = 1). The creation age will return how long a file has existed (in seconds). You can choose any file path you would like to monitor.

The specific number that this resource returns is defined by the above options, please take this into account if you choose to change your Alert Threshold for this resource.

You can add as many File Information resources to one server as you need. If you have any additional questions, please contact our support team.
