Launching the FortiManager instance
To launch the FortiManager instance:

Click Create instance.

In the NAME field, enter the desired name to identify the instance by.

In the Placement field, select the desired domain.

Under Image and shape, confirm that the custom image is selected.

Under Image and shape, click Change shape to select the Instance type as Virtual machine, and select a supported instance type . See Instance type support.

In the Primary VNIC information field, configure the following:

Under Primary network, select a network to launch the instance.

Under Subnet, select a subnet on the Internet-facing side of the network.

Under Primary VNIC IP Addresses, configure the following:

Under Private IPv4 address, choose Automatically assign private IPv4 address to automatically create a private IP address or Manually assign private IPv4 address to specify one.

Under Public IPv4 address, Select Automatically assign public IPv4 address so you can access the FortiManager over the Internet. This can be disabled once everything has been configured as desired.

If desired, expand Show advanced options and provide a hostname in the Hostname field.

Click Create Instance. Wait until the PROVISIONING… status changes to RUNNING. You can also check the FortiManager’s public IP address in this screen once it becomes available.
At this stage, FortiManager deployment is not complete. You also need to add a storage volume as a system log disk and attach it to the FortiManager instance once it starts running. The default disk is used for the OS, and the additional disk is used for all other data, including logs. See Adding a disk to the FortiManager-VM for logging.
