Using the default route via underlay
If RIA functionality is not required, it is enough to only keep the default route via the underlay. (For example, your standard default route received via DHCP from an ISP router.)
- Edge-to-Internet traffic will be able to breakout locally, using this default route.
- Edge-to-Hub and Edge-to-Edge traffic will use the specific routes learned via BGP.
No other routing configuration is needed.

If any other destination exists that must be reached via the overlays (either Internet destination or a legacy site outside the SD-WAN solution), you must ensure that a valid route to that destination via the required overlay exists. This route can be either learned dynamically or configured statically. |
