Determining if your modem is supported

After you have enabled modem support, you can go to Network > Modem to and select Configure Modem to see the list of modems supported by FortiOS. The GUI page that appears lists modems supported by your FortiGate and modems supported by FortiExtender. Search for your modem on the lists to verify that its supported.

To make sure you have the most up-to-date modem list, click the FortiGuard button to download the latest supported modem list from FortiGuard. The supported modem list is maintained on FortiGuard and is independant of your FortiOS firmware version and FortiGate model.

Sometimes it may be difficult to determine if your modem is actually supported by checking the list. The vendor name of your modem may not match the of the vendor names in the supported modem list. But you maybe able to find a matching or similar model name.

For example, the modem list includes multiple modems with the Sierra vendor name. Some of these modems may have been re-branded, for example as NetGear modems. So if you have a NetGear modem, check the Sierra entries in the list for a model name that matches your modem's model name.

If your modem is not on the supported modems list, you can use the information about configuring unsupported models that follows.
