Resetting internal operator account passphrases

Resetting internal operator account passphrases

FortiDLP allows internal operator account passphrases to be managed as follows:

  • An operator (administrator) can send a passphrase reset email to an internal operator.
  • An operator (administrator) can generate a passphrase reset link for an internal operator.
  • An operator (administrator) can prompt an internal operator to change their passphrase at their next login.
  • An internal operator can change their own passphrase during a FortiDLP Console session.
  • An internal operator can reset their own passphrase before starting a FortiDLP Console session.
How to reset an internal operator's passphrase
  1. In the FortiDLP Console, on the left-hand sidebar, click .
  2. Under Authentication, select the Operators tab.
  3. In the All operators table, select the row of the relevant internal operator account.
  4. Do one of the following:
    • To send a passphrase reset email, click Send passphrase reset email.

    • To generate a passphrase reset link:
      1. Click Generate passphrase reset link.
      2. Click Copy link and provide the link to the operator.
    • To prompt the operator to change their passphrase at their next login:
      1. Click Require passphrase reset on next login.
      2. Click Save.
How to change your own internal operator passphrase
  1. In the FortiDLP Console, on the left-hand sidebar, click your avatar.
  2. In the account menu, select My profile page.
  3. In the Current passphrase field, type your current passphrase.
  4. In the New passphrase field, type your new passphrase.
  5. Note

    A passphrase must be Strong or Very strong (as indicated by the Passphrase strength scale on the page) and contain at least 15 characters, including:

    • 1 uppercase letter
    • 1 lowercase letter
    • 1 number
    • 1 special character.

  6. In the Confirm new passphrase field, type your new passphrase again.
  7. Click Reset passphrase.
How to reset your own internal operator passphrase
  1. Go to your FortiDLP Console URL.
  2. Click Forgotten passphrase?.
  3. In the Email address field, type the email address associated with your internal operator account.
  4. Click Send reset link.
