Exporting and importing policy groups

Exporting and importing policy groups

The FortiDLP Console allows you to export and import previously customized policy groups to cut down on configuration time.

You can use this functionality to import a preconfigured policy group provided by your Fortinet representative. You can also use it to create a backup of a policy group, which you can revert to at a later stage to override any changes.

When you export a policy group, all of its parameters are preserved except for labels, which can be assigned to the new group after import.

This functionality should not be used to duplicate or clone a policy group within the same tenant. When you export and import the same policy group within the same tenant, that policy group will be overwritten.

How to export a policy group
  1. In the FortiDLP Console, on the left-hand sidebar, click .
  2. On the row of the policy group you want to export, click> Export policy group.

When the export completes, the policy group bundle (GZ file) will be downloaded to your computer.

How to import a policy group
  1. In the FortiDLP Console, on the left-hand sidebar, click .
  2. On the top-right corner of the page, click> Import Policy Group.

  3. Select the policy group bundle (GZ file).

When the import completes, the new policy group will display in the policy group list, but will be unpublished.

For information on assigning labels and modifying parameters, see Editing policy groups.
