Testing file shadowing configurations

FortiDLP allows you to test your storage vendor configuration, so you can ensure file shadowing is set up correctly.

When you test your configuration, you verify that the FortiDLP Agent can upload shadow copies to your storage bucket and that you can download them. For simplicity, this is done with an unencrypted TXT file.

How to test your file shadowing configuration

1. In the FortiDLP Console, on the left-hand sidebar, click .
2. Under Integrations, select the File shadowing tab.
3. In the Storage vendor section, click Test configuration.
4. In the Test file storage configuration dialog box, click Copy beside the command supported for your OS.
   
5. Open PowerShell and run the command you copied.

If this results in an error message, check your configuration fields. Otherwise, allow time for the file to be uploaded to your bucket before proceeding to the next step.

6. In the Test file storage configuration dialog box, click Download test file.
   The test shadow copy is downloaded to your computer.

If the shadow copy was successfully uploaded and downloaded, proceed to How to configure Agent action settings - Part 2.
