Installing the FortiDLP Browser Extension on macOS

If you want to enable web monitoring on a macOS device, you must manually install the FortiDLP Browser Extension. This is due to Apple's revised security policies, which limit the FortiDLP Agent's capabilities to directly manage configuration profiles.

The following instructions describe how to install and enable the FortiDLP Browser Extension on a single device by using our macOS accessory bundle configuration profiles.

Note

Brave's New private window with Tor feature cannot be disabled using these instructions, which could be used to anonymously browse the web. The FortiDLP Agent cannot capture browser events when this is used.

How to install the FortiDLP Browser Extension on macOS
  1. Download the macOS accessory bundle from the Next DLP Support Portal.
  2. Double-click the agent-accessory.zip file.
  3. Do at least one of the following:
    • To install the browser extension on Arc, Brave, Google Chrome, Google Chrome Canary, Microsoft Edge, and Vivaldi, double-click the browserInstallChromium.mobileconfig file.
    • To install the browser extension on Firefox, double-click the browserInstallFirefox.mobileconfig file.
  4. For each of the profiles you add, do the following:
    1. In the Apple menu, do one of the following:
      • On macOS 15, go to System Settings > General > Device management.
      • On macOS 14, go to System Settings > Privacy and Security.
      • On macOS 13, go to System Settings > Profiles.
      • On macOS 12, go to System Preferences > Profiles > Profiles.
    2. In the Profiles dialog box, select the profile and then click Install.
      The FortiDLP Browser Extension is installed and enabled.
  5. Optionally, to disable private browsing and Chrome Guest mode:
    1. In the agent-accessory.zip file, double-click privateBrowsing.mobileconfig.
    2. Return to the Profiles dialog box.
    3. Select the private browsing profile, and then click Install.
