Adding a site

Adding a site

A FortiDevice site is a unique network segment. Multiple sites can use the same RFC 1918 space with each site being used for different assets within the inventory. For example, one site might include all the switches with another site including all the servers.

Adding a new site

Use the Add Site dialog box to define which IP addresses FortiDevice Detector will scan. You can optionally list IP addresses that FortiDevice Detector will not scan.

To create a new site:
  1. Go to Sites.

  2. Click ADD SITE.

  3. If you selected All Organizations in the Organization dropdown list at the top of the GUI, you can select which organization that the site will belong to.

  4. In the Site Name field, enter a name for your site.

  5. In the Description field, enter a description of your site.

  6. In Default Scan Scope field, enter IPv4 addresses, CIDR address, IP address ranges, or domain names to scan with the detector. You can use an asterisk as a wild card for the last octet, for example, 172.17.3.*.

  7. In the Default Exclusions field, enter IPv4 addresses, CIDR address, IP address ranges, or domain names that will not be scanned with the detector. You can use an asterisk as a wild card for the last octet, for example, 172.17.3.*.

  8. If you have a subnet that you want to identify with tags or a description, add the CIDR address in the Subnet CIDR field, add one or more tags in the Tags field, and a description in the Description field.

    If you have another subnet to identify, click Add Another Subnet.

    NOTE: Use a comma to separate multiple tags.

  9. Click Save.

  10. In the confirmation dialog box, click ADD SITE.

Editing a site

After you create a site, check that the information about the new site is correct in the Sites page.

If you need to make changes, click the vertical ellipsis at the left end of the site row and select Edit.

Deleting a site

If you need to delete a site, click the vertical ellipsis at the left end of the site row and select Delete.

Changing the column display

At the top of the Sites page, you can use the Columns dropdown list to select which columns to display or to reset the columns to the default view.

Performing a search

To perform a search on the contents of the Sites page:
  1. Click in the Search/Query field.

  2. Select which category to search within.

  3. Select = for an exact match or select Like for a partial match.

  4. Enter one or more items to search for. Separate multiple items with a comma.

  5. Click APPLY.
