Configuring autoconnect with username and password authentication

To configure autoconnect with username and password authentication:
  1. Configure EMS:
    1. Go to Endpoint Profiles > Manage Profiles.
    2. Select the profile with the VPN tunnel that you want to configure autoconnect for.
    3. On the VPN tab, under General, enable Auto Connect.
    4. From the dropdown list, select the desired VPN tunnel.

    5. Edit the tunnel:
      1. In Advanced Settings, enable Show "Remember Password" Option.
      2. Enable Show "Auto Connection" Option.
      3. Click Save Tunnel.
  2. Configure FortiOS:
    1. Do the following for an SSL VPN tunnel:
      1. Go to VPN > SSL-VPN Portals.
      2. For the desired portal, enable Allow client to connect automatically. This automatically enables Allow client to save password.
      3. Click OK.

    2. Do the following for an IPsec VPN tunnel:
      1. If you are using an existing tunnel, you can only configure autoconnect using the CLI. Run the following commands:

        config vpn ipsec phase1-interface

        edit “vpn_tunnel_name”

        set save-password enable

        set client-auto-negotiate enable

        next

        end

      2. Do the following if you are creating a new tunnel:
        1. Go to VPN > IPsec Wizard.
        2. Configure the tunnel as desired. In Client Options, enable Save Password and Auto Connect.
  3. In FortiClient, go to the Remote Access tab. The Save Password and Auto Connect checkboxes should display. If they do not display, you may have to connect manually to VPN once. Upon disconnect, the settings enabled in step 2 will appear below the Password field.

To configure autoconnect with username and password authentication:
  1. Configure EMS:

    4. From the dropdown list, select the desired VPN tunnel.

    5. Edit the tunnel:
      1. In Advanced Settings, enable Show "Remember Password" Option.
      2. Enable Show "Auto Connection" Option.
      3. Click Save Tunnel.
  2. Configure FortiOS:
    1. Do the following for an SSL VPN tunnel:
      1. Go to VPN > SSL-VPN Portals.
